Can bygones be bygones? That is the question Michael Strahan wants to ask Kelly Ripa, and her answer appears to be a big fat no.
It was recently revealed that after months of throwing subliminal shades and direct disses at each other, the ex-New York Giants athlete via his friends made an effort to reach out to Ripa.
The retired NFL star wanted to rekindle his friendship with the petite TV host.
Strahan and Ripa were once loved as America’s funniest and most adorable TV husband and wife as they served as co-hosts on the syndicated morning talk show Live! with Kelly and Michael from 2012 to 2016.
After leaving the program for a lucrative new position on Good Morning America, both parties made a lot of angry statements.
However last month, the media personality and football analyst on Fox NFL Sunday let Ripa know that he wants to reconnect.
Via BET, an insider stated: “Michael is 100% behind meeting with Kelly and clearing the air. These two were TV-husband-and-wife for many years and to go from seeing someone five days a week to having zero contact makes no sense to him.”
The source close to the co-host of GMA went on to explain: “Through mutual friends, Michael has made it clear that he would love to set up drinks or a private meeting with Kelly.”
So, what does Ripa think of the olive branch that her former sidekick is extending?
She is not interested. Ripa has cut all ties with Strahan and has no immediate plans to reunite with him even if their TV reconciliation would save Live!
When Strahan bid the morning gabfest adieu, he said in a statement: “I look forward to continuing to work with the incredible team at GMA. It is an exciting opportunity to be able to bring unique stories and voices to the audience.”
Strahan continued: “My time with LIVE with Kelly and Michael has been transformative, and my departure will be bittersweet. Kelly has been an unbelievable partner, and I am so thankful to her and the entire team. I am extremely grateful for the amazing support I’ve received from all of the fans.”
Since splitting, a lot has happened for the pair — Strahan is becoming a media mogul thanks to GMA, the $100,000 Pyramid, and as an analyst on FOX NFL Sunday.
As for Ripa, after having a gazillion guest-hosts, she settled for Ryan Seacrest and things have not been going great.
