After Megyn Kelly was reportedly fired by NBC for her comments on blackface, rumor has it that the network has already found her replacement! Apparently, Kelly Clarkson is being offered the job.
RadarOnline was the first to report that the singer is currently in talks to take over Megyn’s 9 A.M. segment on the Today show.
A source tells the news outlet that NBC executives ‘think it might be perfect time to give her Today time slot to Kelly, who has a huge fan base and is extremely well-liked and relatable.’
Meanwhile, another source says Clarkson is much loved by NBC talent as well as their crew members.
Finally, another supposed insider claims NBC has already ‘approached’ Kelly.
However, at this time, nothing has been confirmed.
Megyn Kelly’s exit from the show is not official either, but an insider told HollywoodLife that they did fire her after arguing that blackface should be Okay as long as it’s for a Halloween costume.
‘You do get in trouble if you’re a white person who puts blackface on for Halloween, or a black person who puts whiteface for Halloween. Back when I was a child, that was okay just as long as you were dressing up as a character,’ Megyn stated.
In the meantime, she has apologized saying: ‘I want to begin [by saying] I am sorry… The country feels really divided, and I have no wish to add to that pain and offense. I believe that this is a time for more understanding, love, more sensitivity, and honor… Thank you for listening and for helping me listen too.’
