Kate Middleton’s wedding with Prince William was watched by millions of fans around the world in 2011. But there was one person whose life was forever changed by the royal ceremony. Chelsy Davy, who was dating Prince Harry at the time, reportedly knew her romance with Harry would never go anywhere after attending the gorgeous wedding.
Davy and Harry had a rollercoaster relationship that lasted between 2004 and 2011. The pair officially parted ways in 2010, but rumors of a reunion surfaced after she was invited to William and Middleton’s nuptials.
Davy and Harry got back together in 2011 and she agreed to attend his brother’s wedding. But instead of bringing them closer together, the wedding convinced Davy that she made the right decision dumping Harry.

“A friend revealed that seeing the enormity and pomp of the day convinced Chelsy that she and Harry had been right to separate,” Angela Levin wrote in her book, Harry: Conversations with the Prince.
To be fair, the timing just wasn’t right for Harry and Davy. At the time of William and Middleton’s wedding, Harry was finishing training to become a helicopter pilot while Davy was enrolled in the law program at University of Leeds.
Despite having a slew of things in common, Davy couldn’t get over the fact that she and Harry were raised different worlds. While he was used to the attention that comes with being a member of the royal family, she wanted privacy and did her best to remain out of the spotlight.
According to Express, Davy opened up about the romance in an interview back in 2016. Davy explained how dating a royal family member was “scary” and that the public scrutiny was uncomfortable even in the best of times. At the end of the day, Davy realized that she couldn’t cope with the attention and wanted desperately to be a normal kid.
Although Davy and Harry didn’t work out, they ended their relationship on good terms. In fact, Davy was in attendance at Harry’s recent wedding with Meghan Markle, which took place a few months ago. Markle reportedly gave Davy a warm welcome at the ceremony and the ladies even exchanged a hug at one point.
Kate Middleton nor Prince Harry have commented on the revelations in Levin’s new book. Fortunately, things worked out for the best for Harry and Davy, and it’s good to know that there are no hard feelings between them.
