The 40-year-old entertainer is in trouble with the media yet again. One of Whitney Houston’s family members recently trashed the rapper, Kanye West, for using a picture of the singer’s drug-covered bathroom as part of his album artwork.
Damon Elliot, the cousin of the iconic singer, attacked Kanye for using the photo and claims he’s inappropriately profiting from a terribly unfortunate situation.
Reportedly, Kanye and Pusha T used the picture of Whitney Houston’s bathroom which was covered in drugs as the album artwork for Pusha’s latest record, Daytona.
During a chat with People Magazine, Elliot said the decision to use the picture for his album is incredibly deleterious. However, Kanye supposedly paid $85,000 for the rights to use the image, so he might just have to lie in the bed he and the rest of his family made.
Elliot claims he found out about the use of the photo from his daughter. Elliot said he got “sick” to his stomach after looking at it.
Moreover, Damon supposedly works in the music business and was shocked to hear that Kanye would use the photo for such a purpose. He even worked with the rapper on a Keyshia Cole track, so it comes as a big surprise, as Damon appears to think that it’s all part of a personal vendetta or attack.
In his words, what Kanye did was “disgusting,” because it’s clearly a “publicity stunt to sell records.” It’s even worse because it has been done in a way which exploits the tragic death of an icon. It hurt his family; “It’s petty, It’s tacky,” and Elliot asked Kanye for a direct apology.
However, it’s unlikely, considering Kanye has a reputation for over-the-top antics for the sake of selling records and getting attention. Last month, Kanye made headlines for an interview with TMZ where he said he and the president, Donald Trump, shared the same “energy.”
