Fans of Xscape were in for a special treat when the girl group had announced that they were reuniting for a tour and putting out new music. Kandi Buruss participated in the reunion but announced that she will not be making more songs with her bandmates.
The group, along with Jermaine Dupri, visited “The Breakfast Club” where they touched on multiple subjects including why Kandi doesn’t want to be a part of the upcoming venture.
The “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star explained: “I feel like I really enjoy performing with my group members, but at this age, I want to be able to do whatever I want to do and business-wise, I want to be able to be in control of my own situation. You know when you’re doing business with four different people with four situations…everybody has their own mindset of how they want to handle business. And the more and more stuff you do together, it’s kind of like, ‘OK,’ you know? When you’re doing a tour, it’s like, ‘OK, we’re doing this tour, and we’re going to make it happen.’ And the fans are loving it, and that’s awesome.”
She continued to say: “Like back in the day, we sold multi-platinum records, and it’s not the same as it was then. You know what I’m saying? Now it’s a totally different way that people sell records, and I don’t know if it’ll ever be back the same as it once was, as far as having multiple platinum hits. So in my mind I feel like, ‘Why tarnish that?’ If you’re on top, why put out a record that may be like ‘meh?'”
Burruss is doing a solo project but will continue to tour with the group once filming for “RHOA” is done.
In addition to new music, Kandi has starred in a Broadway play and her latest venture includes a Burlesque-themed event.
Do you think Kandi should stay with Xscap3? Will you listen to her solo album?
