Justin Bieber in the past has talked about his family struggles. He has clashed with his mother, Pattie Mallette, and now the 23-year-old singer is opening up about his father. In an Instagram post shared on the 4th of December, Monday, Justin showed a portrait of himself walking with his dad, Jeremy Bieber.
He wrote, “I love continuing to get to know my father. I love working on hard things to get to the good things.” Bieber stated that relationships are worth fighting for especially when it comes to family.
However, the last line, “love you forever and always daddy!” was pretty cheesy.
Despite his infantile declaration of love for his father, Bieber received around 38,000 comments from his followers including his friend, Patrick Schwarzenegger who wrote, “amen buddy. daddy issues!”
Justin’s mom, Pattie, raised him in a single-parent household in Stratford, Ontario, Canada and gave birth to him when she was just 17-years-old. The story of his life was detailed in the 2011 documentary, Never Say Never.
In the past few years, their relationship has been turbulent, as the star said to GQ Magazine in 2016 that he’s “a lot closer to (his) dad” than he is to his mother.
Reportedly, Mallette and Jeremy broke up just a few months after Bieber was born in 1994. Jeremy at the time was merely 18-years-old. Justin clarified the rumors about his father in an interview with Billboard back in 2015.
He said there’s a misconception that Jeremy was a “deadbeat dad,” but he spent a lot of time with him on weekends and Wednesdays when he grew up. It appears as though Justin is heading down a good path at the moment, considering the star is working on his family life, and rekindling his romance with the superstar, Selena Gomez.
