The actress opened up about meeting her cinematographer hubby Danny Moder, making it very clear that it totally changed her life! Julia Roberts was a guest on the Goop podcast, and while there, she talked to her pal Gwyneth Paltrow about her longtime marriage with her man.
As fans may know, the two met while working together on the 2000 movie The Mexican!
Roberts told the host that ‘I think that first kind of real… ‘seismic shift’ was meeting Danny. Getting married to him. That was the first – my life will never be the same in the most incredible way… He truly, to this day is just my favorite human. I am more interested in what he has to say or his point of view more than anybody. Really, we are so lucky in that way. We really, really like each other, and we enjoy each other’s company.’ Aww….
They tied the knot back in 2002 and are the parents of three kids – 11-year-old Henry and twins Phinnaeus and Hazel, 13.
She went on to explain that over the years, ‘It [marriage] just gets deeper, it just gets more complex. You are young and fall in love and go, ‘Oh, yeah, we are going to get married and we are going to build a house and have kids,’ and all of these things we all dream of, but you do not know if you are going to like the same couch, and you do not know if he’s going to want to get, like, patterned towels.’
‘Then, of course, the bigger ones are, will you parent in a way that has a balance to it, that holds hands philosophically? You just don’t know until you are there doing it, and we’re so fortunate there’s some sort of inexplicable harmony to the way that we do things because we do them differently …. but there is something together that makes all the sense in the world.’
In the end, Roberts stressed that no matter the challenges of any marriage, including theirs, it was ‘the best decision’ of her life to make Danny Moder her husband!
