Josh Gad voices and stars in many of our newest Disney movies. From “Zootopia” to “Beauty and the Beast,” the actor can be spotted as your favorite character. None of the roles he has taken on has been as noteworthy as Olaf the snowman in “Frozen” and now Gad is opening up about one of the courtesies he carries out utilizing his likeness.
Josh Gad told Buzzfeed that he has called many sick children as Olaf and even have left messages to cheer them up.
“I actually get choked up thinking about some of the kids that I’ve left messages for because it’s so…it’s so fleeting. It’s such a little thing that I do that goes such a long way for these children. But you take their mind off of it for a minute, for a day,” the 36-year-old explained.
The lovable sidekick performs one of the best songs in the movie and it can be argued that he has the funniest lines. It’s not hard to see why hearing his voice could make a child’s entire day.
Gad went on to say: “Hopefully you give their parents a distraction. As a parent, it’s the hardest thing to think about and, you know, I take ownership of the fact that that’s as much my job as doing the voice for commercial reasons.
The fact that it has transcended that is such a wonderful thing, but it’s also really sad. I would take all of it back if it just meant that the kids could have a normal life. ”
This wouldn’t be the first time that we hear of a “Frozen” star use their Disney voice for good. Kristen Bell recently made news when she chose to go to an Orlando shelter and sing songs as Anna after being stranded for Hurricane Irma.
So @kristenanniebell literally saved my parents and my entire family tonight from #hurricaneirma . When they were stranded in Florida, she got them a hotel room at her hotel in Orlando and saved them, my brothers, my sister-in-law and niece and nephew. They don't make them like this girl. Thank you Kristin. You are truly an angel sent from above. And thank you @ewablueeyes for bother her when I asked you not to!!!!
It just so happens that the 37-year-old also had a hand in saving Josh Gad’s family members by booking them a room at the same hotel that she was staying in. Her co-star thanked her on Instagram.
It’s great to see these celebrities using their fame to encourage others!
