For the past three years, former 19 Kids & Counting star Josh Duggar has laid low after his molestation and cheating scandals shocked fans and led to TLC canceling his family’s popular reality show. But after spending time in a Christian-based rehab program and returning to life in Arkansas, the oldest Duggar child has slowly been returning to social media. Could he be gearing up for a comeback on Counting On?
Over the weekend the Duggar family wished Josh’s son Marcus a happy fifth birthday on their Facebook page, and the 30-year-old made a rare appearance in the post.
“Happy birthday to our sweet grandson, Marcus! We love your sweet, precious spirit, Marcus! You are growing up so fast and learning new things each and everyday! We love you and love watching you grow in the knowledge of the Lord,” Jim Bob and Michelle wrote in the caption.
Fans flooded the page with comments on the post, and surprisingly, many of them seemed happy to see Josh appear in the photo collage. They wrote about forgiveness and God’s blessings, and they thought it was nice to see a pic of the beautiful family.
Josh’s wife Anna has her own Instagram page, but she took a two-year hiatus after her husband’s scandal. She recently started posting a few pics here and there, but they mostly feature the couple’s five children, not her husband.
If you need a refresher, back in 2015, Josh confessed to inappropriately touching five underage girls when he was a teenager, and then cheated on his wife using websites like Ashley Madison. He lost his job as a lobbyist with the Family Research Council, and any political aspirations he had died with the scandals.
Now he has moved back close to his family in Arkansas and works as a used car salesman. And, since his return from rehab, he and Anna have welcomed baby number five despite rumors of a possible split.
Friday we traveled 436 miles to reach Waco and had a wonderful visit at the Silos! Our kids had fun playing corn toss with dad, while mom went shopping! A group of us had an amazing lunch at Magnolia Table. After lunch was finished, Mason was ready for a nap and mom was ready for coffee (a mom’s nap in cup!). Thanks Chip & Joanna for your investment in Waco… our family made many special memories! #Waco
But, even though there was quite a bit of fan support on the social media post, there was also a healthy dose of backlash. One of the family’s followers called for castration, and another wrote that Josh’s daughters were at risk of being prey to their own father. Obviously, Josh’s misconduct remains fresh to many fans, and they remain disgusted by his actions.
It doesn’t look like Josh Duggar is going away, though, and his family is happy to embrace him despite his past behavior. But, are they forgiving enough to let him join the other married older siblings on Counting On? And would TLC allow him to make an appearance?
Fans will have to wait and see when Counting On’s eighth season premieres on TLC in July.
