It sounds like Kanye West has a supporter amid his many controversial actions and statements, and no, it is not his wife, Kim Kardashian this time around! Actor Jordan Peele came to the rapper’s defense while giving an interview to Rolling Stone.
During the chat with the news outlet, Peele shared that he believes there’s something ‘magnetic’ about how Ye tells his own truth.
The topic came about while talking about the Sunken Place, a realm part of his movie Get Out, and somewhere many social media users like to joke that Kanye is since he’s made problematic comments about slavery and politics.
Ye has actually posted pics of his mansion’s white walls before, asking: ‘Does this look like the Sunken Place?’
About that, Peele said: ‘However, frustrated I am with what he’s doing, the artist in me is just like, ‘He saw my movie!’ The thing about Kanye is, it feels that, whatever he is going through, he is trying to tell his truth.’
‘And there is something magnetic about people who are trying to tell the truth. I might be wrong, but my feeling’s that even when he is saying something I disagree with, he is trying to tell his truth, and that is more than you can say about 90 percent of people,’ the actor added.
He also admitted that the links between the Sunken Place and Kanye have made him laugh before.
Peele then addressed the real-life significance of the concept he created in the movie, saying: ‘The Sunken Place is a new term we have to aid us in the discussion of what appears, to me, to be black people choosing an ideology that is racist against black people.’
