It seems like Johnny Depp is still not over what happened between him and former wife, Amber Heard. That being said, the actor is determined to prove his innocence as far as her domestic abuse claims are concerned.
It’s no wonder that the drama still haunts him considering how much it affected both his private life and his public image.
Johnny has generally kept quiet about what happened, and that may also be one of the reasons why a lot of people tended to believe Amber.
But now, during an interview with GQ, Depp is finally telling his side of the story.
Yes, a lot of questionable things have happened in the past year in the actor’s life and in this new interview, he seemingly tries to be as candid and thoughtful as possible.
About the accusations that he attacked Heard in May of 2016, he explains: ‘She was at a party the next day. Her eye wasn’t closed. She had her hair over the eye, but you could see the eye was not shut. Twenty five feet away from her, how the f**k am I going to hit her? Which, by the way, is truly the last thing I would have done. I might look stupid, but I ain’t f**king stupid.’
Johnny made it very clear that no one has to blindly ‘believe’ him when even the police were unable to find signs of abuse on Amber’s body.
‘I mean, they talked to the police, but they saw nothing and offered her an emergency medical technician. She said no. Police see nothing broken at the place, no marks, and they offer her an EMT to have a look at her but she says no and I do not know if it was the very next day or a couple of days after, but then there was a bruise. There was a red mark and then a brown bruise,’ he explained.
The star admitted that while he may have been physical with the paparazzi in the past, hurting someone he cares about ‘couldn’t even sound like me.’
When asked why he hasn’t addressed the scandal before, Depp said that it didn’t feel worth getting ‘into a pissing contest with someone about.’
But there is something he regrets about staying silent, and that is the fact that it affected his children.
‘How could anyone come out with something like that against someone, when there is no truth to it whatsoever? I am sure it was not easy for my 14 year old boy to go to school. With people going, ‘Hey, look at this magazine. Your father beats up chicks or something?’ Why did he have to go through all that? Why did my daughter have to go through that?’
Johnny also wonders why Heard decided to make such claims against him and admitted he worries about the public’s opinion of him.
Finally, he vowed to fight for the truth but also expressed how heartbroken he was that someone who really was ‘something’ to him did such a thing, making it clear he is still recovering.
‘I worry about the people who bought it, and I worry about her. It’s just not right. I will never stop fighting. I’ll never stop. They’d have to f**king shoot me. An episode like this takes a long time to get over. It is a mourning for someone you thought was…,’ the actor trailed off.
‘I want the truth. That is really my biggest obsession in this world. It is just the f**king truth,’ he concluded.
