According to new reports, Johnny Depp is now claiming that he punched Gregg Brooks on the set of City Of Lies out of self-defense. In a report from TheWrap, Depp said his actions were “provoked” by Mr. Gregg “Rocky” Brooks.
The lawsuit documents state that “defendant Depp feared for his safety,” as well as the safety of Brad Furman, the presiding director.
As it was previously reported, Brooks, who was working as the location manager for the film, filed a lawsuit against Depp in July due to an altercation between himself and the actor during filming at the Barclay Hotel in Los Angeles.
According to Brooks, Depp attacked him and screamed in his face, “who the f*ck are you? You have no right to tell me what to do?” After he yelled, the actor struck him two times in the bottom left-hand side of his rib cage.
Following his alleged attack, Depp asked him if he could punch him in the face for $100,000. Afterward, Depp’s bodyguards had to physically remove him from the scene.
Additionally, Greg said he returned to the production office a week later and was fired for refusing to sign a declaration indicating that he wouldn’t sue the production company, Good Film Productions, because of the supposed altercation.
Brooks is looking to receive compensation for wrongful termination as well as assault. The former location manager is suing Depp, Brad Furman, Miriam Segal, as well as Good Film Productions.
As you may know, this isn’t the only time Johnny has faced legal troubles as of late. Johnny became embroiled in a controversy with his ex-wife, Amber Heard, who claimed he was abusive.
Additionally, the actor was in a legal dispute with some of his former accountants and managers who supposedly misspent and misused his money. However, Johnny’s former employees accused him of exorbitant spending, insinuating most of his financial problems are of his own doing.
