John McCain’s fight with brain cancer has reportedly taken a turn for the worse. With McCain on his death bed, the Arizona Senator is making plans for his funeral and doesn’t want President Donald Trump to attend.
Inside sources close to McCain say that he does not want Trump at his funeral. Instead, the longtime politician wants Vice President Mike Pence to attend the ceremony. McCain and Trump have been bitter rivals since the last presidential election, but it’s surprising that someone of McCain’s stature in the Republican party wouldn’t want Trump at his funeral. Why doesn’t McCain want Trump at the burial?
Please finish this sentence for me: "It is wrong for John McCain to not invite a guy who mocked his POW status to speak at his funeral because ___"
Whether you like him or not, if your first reaction to that story is "what an insult to Trump," you may want to rethink some things

McCain’s hatred of Trump started during the presidential campaign in 2016. According to Radar Online, Trump bashed McCain — who ran for president in 2008 but lost to Barack Obama —on the campaign trail, saying that McCain was touted as a war hero in Vietnam only because he got captured. Trump said that he liked tradition military heroes who did something in battle over those who got caught and spent time in a war camp.
Trump and McCain have also clashed in Washington over the past two years. This past summer, Trump criticized McCain for not voting to repeal Obamacare, which prevented the bill from passing in the Senate. Trump also got on McCain’s bad side when he failed to show up at former First Lady Barbara Bush’s funeral a few months ago. First Lady Melania Trump attended the ceremony in his stead.
While Trump is on the outs, McCain is planning on honoring a few former U.S. presidents at his funeral. This includes George W. Bush and Obama, both of whom are expected to attend the event. McCain is planning on having his funeral in Washington D.C. at the National Cathedral. Both Bush and Obama are expected to give a speech at the funeral.
John McCain wants Obama to give a eulogy for him, and doesn’t want Trump attending the funeral. Good.
He prefers presidents who don’t disrespect our veterans.

With McCain’s health quickly fading, close friends have been visiting the ailing senator in Arizona. Joe Biden, the Vice President under Obama, recently stopped by to wish McCain well, though it looks like the war hero will not last much longer.
McCain has been battling brain cancer for close to a year and recently underwent an emergency surgery after getting an infection in his intestines. This past week, McCain revealed in his memoir that he isn’t sure “how much longer I’ll be here.”
Donald Trump has not commented on getting banned from John McCain’s funeral.
