After it was revealed that John Legend is up for two Emmy Awards this year, it means that not only has he received Grammies, Oscars, and Tony wins, but he’ll be that much closer to achieving an EGOT.
According to reports, Legend is currently in talks for winning the Emmy For Outstanding Actor In A Limited Series or Movie, as Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar Live In Concert.
Legend said to reporters from Vulture, that if it did happen, “it would be a truly rare group of people to join,” referring to those who have won an Emmy, a Grammy, a Tony Award, as well as an Oscar. John has a long list of accomplishments, including Best Original Song for his work on the track, “Glory,” with the rapper Common.
Legend explained that to be in the same ranks as Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice would be “especially cool,” considering it was their show, to begin with.
The husband of Chrissy Teigen said it was their “favorite production in the history of the show,” and it would be amazing if it earned them a membership to the EGOT-club.
13 nominations for Jesus Christ Superstar this morning! John got two emmy nominations! If he wins, he will complete his EGOT and my spike tv award will probably be moved. But it’s ok I AM SO PROUD!

Jesus Chris Superstar was nominated for 13 Emmy Awards in total, a record-breaking number for a live TV musical. Sara Bareilles and Brandon Victor Dixon also earned Emmy nominations.
Legend, who previously snagged a Tony Award for working in a revival of Jitney on Broadway, said he’s definitely open to working in other stage musicals. He’s had a lot of fun in the theater.
The piano playing singer said he might not act in one, but is considering the possibility of writing songs for another musical. As for if he’s competing with his wife, Chrissy Teigen, who may win a Spike TV award, John said they’ve “got a big house,” so they’ve got plenty of room for awards.
