According to John Goodman, the cast and crew on The Conners “definitely” misses Roseanne Barr, who lost her job after tweeting racially-charged remarks in the summer months. During his appearence on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the 66-year-old actor spoke on the matter before the premiere of The Conners.
“She is missed, definitely,” John explained, claiming that the cast and crew are like a family after working together for so many years. John said the previous year on the show was a miracle, so when it all went away, it felt like it was a dream.
As it was previously reported, ABC picked up The Conners in June after the Roseanne revival was canceled due to Barr’s tweets about Valerie Jarrett where she compared her to the Planet of the Apes as well as the Muslim Brotherhood.
Roseanne sold the rights to her show to ABC, essentially giving up her series that way everyone could continue reprising their roles. Essentially, Roseanne gave up Roseanne for the greater good.
According to Goodman, his troubles didn’t end there either, because he then fell down the stairs and his wife got sick. As fans of the series know, Roseanne and Goodman were husband and wife on the ABC sit-com.
As for how they’ll go about getting rid of Roseanne’s character, apparently, they intend on killing her off. John said Roseanne gave up a lot in order for them to continue on The Conners, and he couldn’t be any more grateful for her sacrifices.
Roseanne’s career took a turn for the worse due to her controversial tweeting, which she partially blamed on overworking, exhaustion, and Ambien.
The makers of the drug released a statement afterward claiming that “racism” wasn’t a side effect of taking the drug. However, others took to social media to state that the pharmaceutical often has strange consequences like memory loss and sleep-walking.
