Kevin Hart’s scandal and decision to step down from that role has left the Oscars producers scrambling for a new host. Now, one insider tells HollywoodLife that none other than Jimmy Kimmel might step up to the plate. Here’s what’s going to take for him to do it!
As you may know, the Oscars are about three months away but there is no host in sight for the massive award show.
While Kevin Hart had been the one who received the honor, when some decade-old anti-LGBTQ tweets surfaced, the comedian decided to resign.
Now, just days after, rumor has it that Jimmy Kimmel could replace Hart.
However, while he’s not saying no, Kimmel will do it only in case they don’t find anyone else.
The insider explained that ‘Jimmy was happy to take a break from the Academy Awards this time around and he was looking forward to seeing it in someone else’s hands. But now that the Academy and ABC are scrambling to find another host, and since Jimmy’s such a company man, he’d do it if they remain in a pinch and cannot get anyone.’
The man has hosted the Oscars two years in a row – 2017 and 2018 – so it is safe to say he’d be perfect for it since he has the experience.
The source shared his alleged conditions, saying that ‘He wants them to ask before the New Year, so he’s as ready as possible because it takes a lot to prepare for the show. So it’ll be an interesting few weeks for Jimmy. He’s going to take it day by day and expect every possible scenario, but he’ll be ready in the bullpen in the chance that ABC and the Academy need him.’
Multiple insider reports have been claiming that the Academy is desperate to find a replacement for Hart and hasn’t been too successful so the chances that Kimmel will end up hosting, after all, are higher than you might think.
