Maybe Jimmy Fallon came up with some clever Donald Trump jokes; that is why he finally accepted to host the Golden Globes. After years of turning the gig down for unknown reasons, the host of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” said yes, and in a new interview, he gave a preview of what to come. Expect him to mock the billionaire at least a little bit. The comedian is very fond of The Donald; the president-elect has appeared on the show several times.
The “Idiot Boyfriend” singer impersonated Trump for several months, and he even managed to convince the real estate magnate to take part in one of his hilarious skits.
Fallon was even bashed during the presidential election for being too soft on the famous New Yorker and for playing with his funny hair instead of asking tough questions. The “Your Baby’s First Word Will Be Dada” author spoke to the Hollywood Reporter where he said he plans to share a few Trump-related jokes at the 74th annual awards ceremony.
He said: “Yeah. The whole night won’t focus on that, but it will be a week before the inauguration, so it will be on everyone’s mind. … It’s the first and maybe the last party that we’ll have in 2017.”
The television host also revealed that he might have something in store with his good friend, Justin Timberlake. The duo has recorded numerous silly songs together and performed them on the nightly show. The writer, and producer explained: “I don’t want to give anything away. … I want to have fun with as many people as I possibly can, but I’d like everyone to be a little surprised going in. We’ll try to be clever. And I think you’ll see a lot of my friends.”
He went on to reveal that Timberlake might not be the only famous friends appearing on stage on January 8. He stated that there would be many surprises and in his various skits. Asked if Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will take part in the show, he declined to answer.
As stated above, for several years, NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt has been pleading with Fallon to host the event. In the same interview, he finally explained why he accepted this time around. The former cast member of “Saturday Night Live” said: “I wanted to just focus on getting The Tonight Show off the ground and making that work. That’s my job in the first place, and I just want to make sure I have a job. (Laughs.) But I kind of know what I’m doing now, and I thought this would be the perfect year. TV has been on fire, so I was looking forward to it being a great TV season, but you never know about the movies, and I lucked out, because the movie season turned out to be fantastic as well.”
On the night of the big event, let us know what do you think of Fallon’s jokes.
