Jim Bob Duggar is back on the financial mountain top. After months of bankruptcy rumors, Jim Bob’s fortune was recently estimated to be worth upwards of $3.6 million. Although the Duggar patriarch’s finances are back on track, he might be risking it all in a feud with Ben Seewald.
According to The Hollywood Gossip, Jim Bob suffered money loss after the cancellation of 19 Kids and Counting and a few financial missteps. Rumored to be on the verge of bankruptcy, Jim Bob turned it all around in 2017 and got his fortune back up into the millions.
This was partly due to the family’s success on Counting On, though the Duggars only get paid around $25,000 for each episode and they have to split it up with every member of the family.
A majority of Jim Bob’s fortune comes from his seminars and real estate business, both of which are booming at the moment. Jim Bob’s children are trying to follow in his footsteps, yet Seewald is taking a different approach.
Jessa Duggar’s husband apparently doesn’t like how Jim Bob is amassing another fortune. According to In Touch Weekly, Seewald thinks Jim Bob’s vast fortune goes against the family’s strict religious beliefs, which he and Jim Bob have fought over in the past.
As fans will recall, Jim Bob follows the Quiverfull sect of Christianity while Seewald was raised in Calvinism. An inside source recently revealed that Jim Bob endures Seewald’s to keep Jessa and her little ones in front of the cameras.
“They chase the almighty dollar instead of their doctrine. When cameras aren’t rolling, it’s a whole different life,” the insider revealed. “It’s all about money. It’s crazy.”
Seewald and Jim Bob have fought over things in the past. The two men have argued about their religious beliefs on several occasions, though their biggest conflict came when Seewald declared his support for the Black Lives Matter cause. Seewald’s comments didn’t go over well with the Duggars, who are very conservative in their political beliefs.
And while it seems like Jim Bob is tolerate of his son-in-law’s beliefs, an insider told The Hollywood Gossip that he is now having second thoughts about giving Seewald his blessing to marry Jessa.
It’s no secret that the Duggars have raised their daughters to follow a strict code of religious beliefs. This includes rules surrounding the courtship process and banning their children from participating in certain activities, such as wearing pants in public.
Now that Jessa is out of the home, however, Seewald is starting to have a greater influence on her decisions, and she’s not alone. Just last month, Jinger Duggar shared some photos of herself wearing pants on social media. Jim Bob reportedly disapproved of the move and butted heads with Jinger’s husband, Jeremy Vuolo, over the issue.
Luckily for Jim Bob, there’s not much Seewald or Vuolo can do about his vast fortune. At least for now, it’s safe to say that Jim Bob Duggar’s wealth will remain intact.
Counting On returns with new episodes on 2018.
