Derick Dillard’s firing from TLC might be the least of his worries. The former Counting On star was let go after making controversial remarks about a transgender teen on social media, and those comments might come back to haunt him as he and Jill Duggar prepare to adopt.
According to In Touch Weekly, Jill and Derick have been vocal about having a large family together and want to adopt to make that happen. The couple’s dreams of adoption started when they were doing missionary work in Central America.
The couple openly discussed this on their family blog, assuring fans that they would know as soon as an adoption was in the works. Although Jill and Derick had a good chance of adopting, his recent comments on social might change that.

A lot of adoption agencies examine social media to determine if the parents are ready for adoption. This is especially true with international adoption agencies. Prior to last year, this would not have been an issue for Derick and Jill.
But after his recent comments on Twitter about transgender teen Jazz Jennings, the couple might have reason to worry. As fans will recall, Derick bashed Jennings on social media for being transgender.
According to In Touch Weekly, Derick’s comments directly led to his firing from TLC and the family’s hit reality show, Counting On.
“We want to let our viewers know that Derick Dillard has not participated in Counting On for months and the network has no plans to feature him in the future,” TLC told fans after the scandal broke. “We want to reiterate that Derick’s personal statements do not reflect the views of the network. TLC is proud to share the story of Jazz Jennings and her family and will continue to do so.”

Jill and Derick have not said anything recently about adopting, so it is unclear if they are following through with their plans. In the meantime, the couple has started another GoFundMe to help pay for additional missionary work. Fans were quick to criticize the pair for asking for more money instead of getting regular jobs.
In reply, Derick Dillard assured fans that he’s held a steady job for the last 23 years. Jill Duggar is standing by her man, and will not appear on the new season of Counting On.
