Former Counting On star Jill Duggar has gotten herself into hot water once again with her latest Instagram post, and of course, it’s because of the way she parents her kids. She is no stranger to controversy, but this time she may have outdone herself after she shared a parenting hack about transporting kids in small spaces.
In Touch Weekly says that outrage against Duggar may have reached a “fever pitch” this week when Duggar shared her hack for combining a car seat with an umbrella stroller. All she did was stick a car seat bar over an umbrella stroller’s handles, but fans found the idea to be incredibly dangerous.
In the video, the 27-year-old says that she learned the trick from her mom Michelle Duggar, and that made things worse.
“Michelle Duggar is NOT someone we want to be taking parenting advice from,” said a fan. “Her litany of parenting hacks include: blanket training, assigning sister moms, turning a blind eye to her son molesting her daughters, and many many more.”
The fans safety concerns are legitimate, but Jill obviously doesn’t use this hack often. Instead, she says it is for when you need to easily get in and out of tight places, “like church.” If you look at her other social media photos, you can see that the mom-of-two usually uses a full stroller and she holds a carrier when she transports her sons Israel and Samuel.
For that reason, some people didn’t think Jill’s hack was so bad because she uses the trick just to save space when it’s necessary. Sometimes, it’s not convenient to bring out all the big stuff or have three strollers, and some fans pointed out that it isn’t worth hating on Jill for this kind of thing because she doesn’t do it all the time.
Some moms even revealed that they do the same thing and stood up for Jill. One said that she used the hack when her kids were babies and they were traveling, and claimed the stroller was very sturdy. Another called the idea “clever” and wanted to try the “genius” idea.
When it comes down to it, Jill really can’t do anything without receiving a ton of backlash. Anything she posts on social media results in at least some negative feedback. Earlier this month she posted about helping deliver a baby, and people started to question if she was qualified to do so.
Jill Duggar is a Certified Professional Midwife with a valid certificate, but she is not a registered nurse with midwifery training. She has also recently started a midwifery company called Labor Sit, which makes sense since she and her husband Derick Dillard are no longer part of Counting On.
New episodes of Counting On return to TLC later this summer.
