Fans of Counting On don’t know if Jim Bob Duggar has a favorite son-in-law, but if he does, chances are it’s not Jill Duggar’s husband Derick Dillard. Even before TLC fired Dillard, the family patriarch reportedly didn’t get along with Jill’s husband because he put the family media empire at risk by bullying a teenage girl on Twitter.
Now, it seems the two are at odds once again, and it’s all because of Dillard’s latest actions on social media.
Dillard recently promoted a speaking engagement by a homophobic pastor who believes in conversion therapy – a practice so horrible that the state of Washington recently outlawed it. And, he also invited LGBTQ youth to the event to rehabilitate his damaged reputation.

But, the Duggar dad didn’t have a problem with that. Instead, it was the fact that Dillard invited atheists to the family’s church that outraged Jim Bob.
Fundamentalist Baptists are supposed to try to convert those who don’t believe the same as they do, so Jim Bob really shouldn’t have an issue with Dillard’s actions. But, sources say that he doesn’t want to share his church with strangers who don’t share his beliefs.
Of course, he blames Dillard for filling his church home with atheists, and the two are clashing hard over the situation. And, it doesn’t help that Dillard doesn’t have a job and can’t provide for his family, and instead has resorted to online fundraising to support his wife and two children.
Even though he lost his job over his bigoted comments, Dillard continues to offend people on social media, and it doesn’t appear he will be stopping anytime soon.
Even though he has backed off from specific attacks against people he doesn’t agree with, he continues to fill his social media pages with controversial beliefs.
But, now that the reality TV money is gone, fans are wondering what he is going to do next to provide for his family. He can only rely on fan donations for so long before he must get a job.
He did recently take a temporary gig as a driver during the 2018 Student Leadership University Lift Tour. For a weekend, he drove students around so they could worship. But, that’s not going to cut it when it comes to taking care of a family of four.
The new season of Counting On – without Derick Dillard and Jill Duggar – premieres Monday, February 26th on TLC.
