Jersey Shore: Family Vacation star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is heading to prison in early 2019. And, since he just married Lauren Pesce on November 1st, he has asked his castmates to take care of his new bride while he is gone.
Even though a judge sentenced Sorrentino to eight months in prison for tax evasion back in October, he granted the reality star’s request to delay checking into prison until January because of his compliance record while on release. So now, Sorrentino has until January 15th to report to the Bureau of Prisons.
Last weekend, at the “Get Your Rescue On Gala” – a North Shore Animal League of America’s fundraiser – Sorrentino’s co-star Vinny Guadagnino revealed that The Situation has become a rock for his friends and family as he prepares for life behind bars.
Guadagnino said that Sorrentino is “stronger than anyone,” and he is an inspiration to his castmates. But, he did ask the crew for help while he is away.
“I need you guys to take care of Lauren for me,” said Sorrentino, and he added that his co-stars needed to “hold it down.”
Guadagnino hopes that Sorrentino will be released from prison early, but that isn’t likely to happen. An early release from a federal prison is pretty rare, especially with such a short sentence.
No matter how much time he has to serve, The Blast is reporting that Sorrentino is in great spirits. And now that he is sober, he is in an “indestructible” state of mind.
During Season 2 of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, Sorrentino has opened up about his addiction battle. In one episode, he had a heart-to-heart talk with Jenni “JWoww” Farley and told her about his journey to sobriety.
Sorrentino is nearly three years sober after beating an addiction to prescription painkillers. And, he talked to Farley while he was on his way to a speaking gig at a New Jersey rehab center.
“There was one time I was attempting to get sober, and I had a doctor and a nurse at my house,” Sorrentino recalled. “They were detoxing me, and after four or five days, I had the ‘f–k-its,’ they call it. Where you’re like, ‘F— it, I don’t want this anymore. I want to go party. I want to feel better.’ “
Sorrentino went on to reveal that he got into his car and drove away. But, instead of letting him go, Pesce hopped into her car and went after him, and a little car chase ensued. He said that those were crazy times, but he could not escape Pesce because she was determined. So, he turned around and went home to finish the detox process.
New episodes of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation air Thursday nights on MTV.
