Jennifer Lopez has had her fair share of public relationships. With a career that’s spanned two decades, it’s no wonder some of us actually remember certain partners she’s had. Long before Alex Rodriguez, Lopez was one half of highly talked about couple Bennifer. That’s right, they were so highly publicized they were one of the first couples to have their names combined in the press.
Lopez and Ben Affleck even became engaged but after the colossal failure of their film Gigli, their relationship started disintegrated fairly quickly. Despite trying to work it out, the two parted ways. Lopez recalls feeling devasted and mortified that so much of her relationship was being played out so openly as public consumption.
“I was eviscerated. I lost my sense of self, questioned if I belonged in this business, thought maybe I did suck at everything. And my relationship [with Affleck] self-destructed in front of the entire world. It was a two-year thing for me until I picked myself up again,” Lopez recalls of her 2004 failings.
It appears that Affleck also had a bit of a hard time after their breakup. He felt ostracized in many circles because so many people seemed to really root for and enjoy that relationship. He also had a few movies bomb back to back. But alas, both of them have landed on their feet, with a few missteps here and there. Affleck is currently dating Saturday Night Live producer Lindsay Shookus after filing for divorce from ex and mother of his three children, Jennifer Garner.
Lopez and Rodriguez cover the newest edition of Vanity Fair and they talk about mutual success, their functional love, and melding their families together. They both have children from previous relationships.
A-rod speaks openly about how much his daughters look up to Lopez because of her work ethic and ambition. Lopez always has a number of things going on and she’s a part of multiple projects at any given time.
As far as her personal love life goes, this is the happiest Lopez says she’s ever been. So much so that she claims this is the first “good relationship” she’s ever been apart of.
