After fans of Jennifer Lawrence expressed their outrage over the actress sporting a revealing dress while posing for pictures out in the cold, the star reacted and called the whole thing ‘utterly ridiculous.’ Her request to the people bothered by it was simple – ‘chill!’
The uproar was caused by a photo that featured Jennifer in a black Versace gown and her Red Sparrow male co-stars wearing coats.
While the actress was obviously not at all protected from the cold in the dress that had a thigh-high slit and a plunging neckline, the men wore warm jackets.
Today, Lawrence took to Facebook to write: ‘Wow. I do not really know where to get started on this ‘Jennifer Lawrence wearing a revealing dress in the cold’ controversy.’
A lot of people saw the situation as sexist as she had to show off skin even though the weather was really cold while the men were all bundled up in their jackets.
Lawrence was quick to shoot down this assumption, however.
‘This isn’t only utterly ridiculous; I’m extremely offended. That Versace dress was fabulous; you think I am going to cover that gorgeous dress up with a coat and a scarf? I was outside for five minutes. I would’ve stood in the snow for it because I love fashion and that was my choice.’
She added: ‘This is not sexist, this is ridiculous, this is not feminism. Over-reacting about everything someone says or does, creating controversy over silly things such as what I choose to wear or not, is not moving us forward. It is creating silly distractions from the real issues. Get a grip, people. Everything you see me wear is my choice. And if I want to be cold THAT’S MY CHOICE TOO!’
