Jennifer Lawrence and Meryl Streep have officially responded to Harvey’s intention to dismiss the class-action lawsuit against him using the two actresses’ statements. Celebrity Insider reported yesterday night, February 21st, that Weinstein and his legal team released a report stating why he was innocent using J-Law and Streep’s unofficial testimonies.
The 27-year-old Red Sparrow star said Harvey and his company are continuing to distort facts to benefit themselves. She said, “this is what predators do, and it must stop.”
She went to explain although, Weinstein never victimized her, she stands up for the women who have shared their stories. Lawrence 100% stands by the accusers and thinks it’s “Time’s Up” for abuse in Hollywood.
Additionally, Meryl, 68, said his defense of himself by stating his relationship with the Academy Award-winning actress is not evidence of the way he has behaved toward other women. Streep said it was “pathetic and exploitive.” Streep said there is no amount of movies that Weinstein has created which will exonerate him of his crimes.
On the 20th of February, The Weinstein Company executive asked for the court to throw out the class-action lawsuit because the claims were inconsistent with reality.
It was reported yesterday that Weinstein alleged that at no point was a woman’s career negatively affected by rebuffing his advances. The producer went on to give the example of Gwyneth Paltrow, who went on to win an Academy Award in a movie produced by The Weinstein Company.
As you may know, Paltrow accused Weinstein of harassing her in the 1990’s, and Brad Pitt allegedly threatened him as they were dating at the time.
It doesn’t look good for the former producer who is currently facing criminal charges in several countries around the world including in the US, Canada, and the UK. The disgraced ex-Miramax exec is also facing multiple lawsuits.
