The actress revealed that there was a time in her life when she was not sure she wanted to keep acting. Jennifer Garner is a well-known and highly recognized actress, but it turns out that she was not sure about her career path at some point.
During a brand new interview with Variety, Garner confessed that after she welcomed her son Samuel, 6, she seriously considered retiring.
In fact, becoming a mother of three in the span of only seven years caused her to be overwhelmed, and so that thought occurred.
‘Three kids just knocks you flat on your a**,’ the star told the news outlet.
She recalled having a very serious phone conversation with her agent at the time Patrick Whitesell that ultimately convinced her not to give up on her career.
‘I would have to decide, ‘No I actually do love this job.’ Patrick said, ‘Either this is the phone call about you doing Dallas Buyers Club and how we are going to make that happen, or it is a telephone call on your retirement.’ That was a real moment of clarity, and I loved him for it because it forced me to say, ‘OK, I’m not ready to be home all the time.’’
Nowadays, Jennifer Garner has a much better grasp on both her career and motherhood.
Last fall, she talked to ET, revealing how she manages to balance everything so well.
‘Any time that you are playing someone who’s going through something, you have to figure it out, and you actually do not use your own life as much as you might think. It really is its own bear to get through. You get into that place. That is your job, and then you shake it off, because you have to go home and raise your children. It is like any other time I do a scene with an emotional place.’
