The actress talked about her relationship with her mother, which apparently was not the best. As fans know, Jennifer Aniston plays a pretty uptight pageant mom in Dumplin’, her new movie, and this role has brought about questions about her own relationship with her real-life mother, the late Nancy Dow.
During a brand new interview for the Sunday Telegraph, the actress got candid about her rocky past with her mom.
Jennifer explained why the two were unable to make peace for so long when Nancy was still alive.
‘She was a model and was all about presentation and what she looked like and what I looked like. I didn’t come out the model child that she had hoped for and it was something that resonated with me,’ Daily Mail reported that she said during the interview.
It looks like Aniston is now channeling her mother who passed away in 2016 for her new film.
The star portrays a mom obsessed with beauty, and she is well aware of the parallels between her character and her relationship with her mom.
She pointed out that the role has her caring way too much about things that don’t really matter when the little girl only wants to be loved by her mom.
This is not the first time Aniston opens up about her relationship with her mom.
Back in 2015 during an interview for The Hollywood Reporter, she revealed Nancy was really critical of her.
‘Because she was a model, she was gorgeous, stunning. I was not. I never was. I honestly still do not think of myself in that sort of way light, which is fine. She was also really unforgiving. She’d hold grudges that I found so petty,’ Jennifer explained at the time.
