Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux announced their split last week, just one day after the most romantic day of the year, and now reports have surfaced that the former couple saw each other one last time on Valentine’s Day to decide when to announce their separation.
Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Theroux flew on a private plane to Los Angeles and the couple saw each other late at night on Valentine’s Day, but the couple disagreed on when to go public with their breakup.
“Jen didn’t want to announce it for as long as possible, because she wanted to avoid the media attention,” says an insider.
But Theroux was ready to get it over with, so he could move on and live his life. The source says that the actor had checked out of the relationship a long time ago and had been spending less and less time in Los Angeles over the past few months.

The couple’s announcement came just days after Aniston celebrated her 49th birthday, and she was hoping that Theroux would remain low-key, so people wouldn’t question why he wasn’t with her.
But, that isn’t his style, and instead, Theroux was absent while Aniston celebrated in Malibu, California, with friends Courteney Cox, Andrea Bendewald, Leigh Kilton-Smith, and Kristin Hahn.
Aniston and Theroux split after seven years together and two-and-a-half years of marriage, but it seems the couple’s relationship didn’t have a chance from the start.
The same issues that plagued them before they tied the knot lingered throughout their marriage and eventually contributed to their separation.
Their living situation seemed to be a constant problem, with Aniston feeling strongly about life in Los Angeles, while Theroux preferred New York City.
One insider says that one should wonder why they got married in the first place because nothing changed after their surprise wedding back in August 2015.

It seemed that getting married wasn’t that important for the former couple, and when they did plan the event, it was more like a party with friends followed by a fun trip rather than a serious life change.
The duo decided late last year that they would end their marriage, but they still went on their annual New Year’s vacation to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico with friends Jason Bateman and his family.
In their joint statement, Aniston and Theroux said that their split is something that they would normally do privately, but because of all the gossip floating around, they wanted to “convey the truth directly.”
Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux claim that they will remain friends and are determined to maintain their love and respect for one another.
