Six months after calling off their relationship for good, Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum are officially getting a divorce. In fact, Jenna just filed the court documents on Friday, citing the Hollywood-usual, “irreconcilable differences,” as the cause.
The Blast reported the news earlier yesterday. Dewan’s attorney-at-law, Samantha Spector, submitted the documents in which the mother-of-one asked for joint legal and physical custody of their 5-year-old child, Everly.
Channing, in response, filed documents as well requesting joint legal and physical custody of Everly. Jenna, formerly the star of Step Up, like her ex-husband, asked for child and spousal support.
Moreover, Jenna requested for her original name to be restored, Jenna Dewan, instead of Jenna Dewan Tatum. As fans of the couple will remember, in April of this year, Jenna and Channing announced they were breaking up in joint Instagram posts.
It was an announcement that shocked their fans. At the time, the pair wrote they had “lovingly chosen to separate as a couple,” despite falling “deeply in love” in the past.
According to the ex-lovers, there was nothing “salacious” or “secretive” lying at the cause of their reason to split, but they both decided it would be best to just move on, and live their lives separately.
Last month, an insider explained that both Jenna and Channing are dating again, with Jenna, especially, going on a few dates. However, Channing is in something a little more established.
Channing is seeing the singer, Jessie J, after meeting for the first time several years ago. Earlier in the month, it was confirmed that Channing and Jessie J were hanging out together while playing mini-golf.
A source, however, added that it wasn’t serious. It is more of a “casual” coupling, rather than anything too severe. Moreover, insiders claim they’re trying to keep it low-key and as out of the public’s eye as possible.
Despite the collapse of Jenna and Channing’s romance, the latter’s career has only continued to rise, especially with his role in the Quentin Tarantino flick, The Hateful Eight, starring Kurt Russell, Samuel L Jackson, and Jennifer Jason Leigh.
