Actor Jay Hernandez is going to transform into a private detective in the reboot of the TV series Magnum P.I. that will air on CBS.
Hernandez’s character is going to be Thomas Magnum, a brilliant ex-Navy Seal who will be trying his luck in a different career after coming back home from Afghanistan.
The foxy character is tired of living his life in the military and decided to use his skills in the field of private investigations as he is planning on opening an agency of his own.
The TV series is the remake of the famous original that aired in the period 1980-1988. The main star then was Tom Selleck, who is most recently known for CBS’ police drama, Blue Bloods.
Hernandez is famous for his roles in Suicide Squad, Crazy/Beautiful, Ladder 49, Hostel, and Bad Moms.
The news of Magnum P.I.‘s comeback prompted a wave of fans to ask ton questions about the new series.
Many wondered if the setting of the action will be the same as before, with the original story taking place in Hawaii.
Others were concerned with the model and the brand of the muscle car that would be driven by the main character or if Hernandez could revive the look of the famous mustache that was typical for Thomas Magnum.
Fun fact about Hernandez, in a past interview, he revealed that he was discovered by a determined talent agent while in an elevator with his parents in California.
He explained: “I was a kid, and I was with my parents in this L.A. high-rise. So this guy jumped into the elevator with us and started looking at me for a while. I thought, `Uh oh. Pretty weird.’ My dad was like, ‘What the hell is going on?’ But from the tenth floor to the first floor, he talked and pitched me on how I had this look. If I was ever interested in acting or commercials or whatever and asked that I call him.”
Like the many reboots that have been picked up by TV networks over the past months, expect this one to be a hit.
