The reason is so weird! According to the Game of Thrones star, he had quite a lot of trouble getting roles in other projects after playing Khal Drogo. Here’s why!
Jason Momoa stopped by The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon yesterday and he revealed that it was really difficult for him to get any other gigs after being part of the popular TV show.
Apparently, he was so convincing as Drogo that people really thought he was not an English speaker!
As fans of Game of Thrones definitely know, his character spoke Dothraki which meant that there was a language barrier between him and other characters.
That being said, for the longest time, people were convinced that was also the case in real life.
Not that Dothraki is a real language that he is native in, but that he doesn’t speak English!
‘Yeah, not a lot of people thought I spoke English. It was very challenging,’ Jason told Jimmy Fallon.
He went on to explain that figuring out in what type of movie or TV show to cast him after that was also tricky.
‘It’s like, what do you do with Drogo? You are not gonna put him in a comedy.’
Jason, who is actually from Hawaii, revealed that he first realized the way he was perceived while talking to fellow actor Fred Armisen.
‘He was like, ‘I did not even know you spoke English,’ and it was heartbreaking. I was like, ‘that is why I am not getting any jobs.’
Of course, in the meantime, Jason managed to act in movies such as Justice League and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
In addition, it was confirmed that he would be reprising his role as Aquaman in the highly-anticipated film named after the titular character this year.
