Jane Lynch reacted to the death of Mark Salling following his supposed suicide. Reporters from TMZ caught up with Lynch on the 30th of January, and the star said it was “sad and very tragic.”
The 57-year-old star of The 40-Year-Old Virgin revealed that he was the guy who “made that really sweet video at the beginning of Glee.” She said, “It’s tragic, and I’m heartbroken over it.” Jane and Mark both starred on all six seasons of FOX’s Glee from 2009 until 2015.
However, curiously enough, Mark was actually set to receive a sentencing following his arrest for felony possession of child pornography.
The 35-year-old pleaded guilty to the charges in December of 2017 and pleaded to received four to seven years in prison and also would have to register as a sex offender following his release.
Mark was supposed to go to court on the 7th of March to hear his fate in a court of law. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the news to Us Weekly on Tuesday, and many cast and crew members from Glee commented on his death.
According to the LAPD, they responded to the filing of a missing person report made by his family because no one had heard from him.
Tim Davis, who served as the producer of Glee, said, “yes, he committed crimes against children,” and it was “horrific,” but Mark undoubtedly was a broken man, probably “an abuse victim himself.”
Davis asked people to withhold their cruel comments. Additionally, the producer said that “having compassion for Mark Salling” in no way minimizes the severity of his actions and crimes. Tim quoted a bible passage which stated, “If you’re without sin, feel free to cast stones.”
