According to reports, Jane Fonda had a “cancerous growth” surgically removed from her lip. While promoting the newest season of her new show, Grace, and Frankie, the 80-year-old actress addressed the covering of her mouth during a BUILD Series appearance in New York City.
Jane said during a chat with reporters that she “just had cancer taken from my lip,” and that she doesn’t usually walk around with bandages on her lip.
Although Jane was spotted several times throughout the day covering her face with her hand, she was very open about discussing the growth while being interview by Howard Stern earlier in the day.
Fonda said, “the world is falling apart, what’s a lip,” and that despite her recent procedure, things are going well. She said doctors had to dig into her face to remove cancer.
Howard, who is 64-years-old now, expressed concern for the legendary actress and said typically doctors do a “biopsy” on something like that. He said, “It’s a whole thing,” and Jane said “thank you” for caring but she’s “going to be fine, thanks.”
Sources close to Jane said, “at first her family was distraught, but things worked out just fine. If you know Jane, she’s incredibly resilient and rarely do things bother her. She’s a tough old lady.”
Fonda is currently on the TV show, Grace and Frankie, alongside Lily Tomlin.
The two characters are rivals who comfort each other after their husbands fall in love with each other and decide they want to get married. The 4th season of Grace and Frankie is set to start on the 19th of January, Friday.
