James Woods was announced to quit acting by his real estate agent after he put his Rhode Island lake house for sale. The actor broke his silence on retirement reports.
He said the rumors were ‘greatly exaggerated.’ He said, ‘No actor retires from the film business. In my 30s, I could play a sharp young lawyer. In my 40s, I could play an accomplished family man under attack.’
The actor was announced to retire from acting in a news release that was issued by his real estate agent during the time when Woods was putting his Rhode Island lake house on the market.
So I decided to talk to a reporter for the first time in years. To my surprise he got it right! Thank you, Avi… https://t.co/NPl8fUuKkY

‘Longtime Rhode Island resident and Warwick Pilgrim High School graduate James Woods, Veteran of nearly 150 movies and television shows, has announced today that his recent retirement from the entertainment field has prompted him to simplify his life,’ the original draft stated.
According to Woods, he was driving and distracted when the draft was read to him over the phone.
‘I was not paying attention,’ he claimed. ‘I somehow didn’t hear ‘retirement.’ ‘ He added, ‘My career is not going to end in a real estate announcement.’
According to the agent, the actor who owns a few houses in Rhode Island along with some investment properties planned ‘to spend more time on passions including photography, antiquing and Texas hold ’em poker.’
He was selling ‘his many real estate holdings on both coasts.’
‘I’m the world’s biggest tease on Twitter,’ the actor explained why he didn’t correct the reports sooner.
‘I do not remotely take myself seriously in any way. Why do you think I’m on ‘Family Guy’?’
Woods is now selling his house on Boone Lake in Exeter for $1.39 million. ‘I’m finally selling my beloved lake house in Rhode Island. I hope whoever assumes the stewardship of this magical place loves it as I did,’ he confessed on Twitter.
