There is a real war of words going on between Donald Trump and Jake Tapper and many other reporters at CNN. It is a well-established fact that President-elect Trump currently despises the media and his primary target at the moment is CNN. Who would have known that the left-leaning MSNBC would be in the New York billionaire’s good grace and CNN would be a thorn in his side? This week, things got heated between the network and the 45th president during a highly anticipated press conference.
At the event, the real estate magnate refused to take questions from the news organization because he deemed that they have been reporting false news. The feud continued after one of the president’s top aides and a supporter demanded that journalist Jim Acosta be fired and be banned from future press conferences.
Trump backer and Texas Republican Congressman Randy Weber tweeted: “The CNN reporter who was disruptive to the press briefing, & disrespectful to Trump-should be fired & prohibited from any press briefings.”
Acosta caused quite a commotion at the press conference when he refused to accept that the Republican politician would not respond to any of his questions. Acosta, a well-respected reporter, who shadowed Trump during the 2016 race, decided to shout out questions and interrupt the event.
On live television, a circus took place as Trump’s press secretary, Sean Spicer, pulled Acosta aside and threatened to take legal action against him and have him booted from the event.
Trump being Trump moved the fight to his favorite venue – Twitter. In a series of tweets, the former TV star said CNN had a total meltdown. He also claimed that their ratings have been dipping and once again called it a faux media outlet – a nickname given to FOX News by liberals.
Not happy with the insults, Tapper, the host of “The Lead with Jake Tapper,” rushed to Twitter to answer Trump. He wrote: “@TheLeadCNN was #1 in its time slot in the demo Tuesday, thanks for watching folks!!”
This is not the first time that Trump has gone after one of CNN stars or one of its reporters. In September, he called CNN – the Clinton News Network and bashed Don Lemon for the way he covered race-related matters during the election.
Trump also slammed Anderson Cooper for being too easy on Hillary Clinton. The drama between Trump and CNN will never end.
