Counting On star Derick Dillard has offended the LGBTQ community, and despite receiving a lot of backlash for his comments about fellow reality TV star and transgender icon Jazz Jennings, Dillard still defends his views today. In a shocking blog post, the man argued that it doesn’t necessarily mean one hates a person or a group only because they don’t agree with them.
‘That one thinks of someone’s idea or actions really does not serve at all, to tell what they think of them personally, one way or the other. For instance, I disagree with about 95% of what my son does or suggests that I do, yet I love him dearly! I disagree with my wife far less than my son, and I also love her very much. It is not bigotry, fascism, etc… to exercise one’s right of free speech,’ Dillard wrote.
He went on to argues that there is nothing wrong with having different opinions on things and sharing them – after all, that ‘is the beauty of America!’
As you may be aware, back in August, Dillard attacked 16-year-old Jazz on social media by saying that the fact that she has a ‘reality show’ is pretty ironical considering ‘transgender’ is not real.
‘‘Transgender’ is a myth. Gender is not fluid; it’s ordained by God,’ the man wrote, offending a lot of people.
