The actor asked the court for joint legal and physical custody of their 10-year-old daughter and is prepared to offer Sara spousal support. Even though they have always tried to keep their romantic life private, the signs that things weren’t going that well with Cuba Gooding Jr.’s marriage started appearing since August 2014, when Sara filed for legal separation from her husband.
Although they decided to go on separate ways, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Sara Kapfer attended the Weinstein Company and Netflix’s Golden Globes party at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, proving that they’re still good friends. The two were high school sweethearts and the 49-year-old actor praised his wife every time he got the chance. A while ago, during an appearance on The View, Cuba Gooding Jr. even shared the fact that he’s very lucky to have such a life companion that puts up with him.
For some people, the fact that Sara’s filing for legal separation didn’t lead to an immediate breakup is quite surprising. Present at The Steve Harvey Show, Cuba tried to make everything clear and explain what was actually going on. The actor said that, just like in every marriage, problems occur and partners need to take a timeout, to clarify some things. And with three kids, they needed some time to think before taking any radical decision.
