Everyone knows that Matt Lauer was reportedly fired from the Today show after the massively disturbing scandal involving sexual harassment allegations. He was replaced by Megyn Kelly, but she was also recently fired after she defended blackface, as you probably know.
Almost a year has passed since the massive scandal involving Matt.
Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb announced everything live on the November 29 episode of Today, ahead of The New York Times’ report.
An unidentified former employee accused Matt of asexually assaulting her in his office in 2001, and after this got out, lots of other allegations started pouring.
Latest rumors that have begun floating around include a potential comeback of Matt to the show. Is this possible?
A source close to the situation knows more details, and they spilled the tea for Hollywood Life.
The insider said that Matt returning would ‘be one of the biggest PR disasters ever,” and there is “no discussion of having him back.’
‘If they brought him back, it would be a slap in the face to all the women who were affected by what he did in the first place,’ the same source told the popular online magazine.
The insider continued and explained that ‘NBC doesn’t want Matt back for those reasons and many more. A return from him in any way isn’t even being addressed. They are looking to move forward and not backwards for the show.’
The same insider also adds that Matt ‘is not coming back to Today. It’s just not happening. That would just bring the most unneeded controversy to the show, and they don’t welcome that whatsoever.’
