Back in January, Counting On star Josiah Duggar told fans that he was courting family friend Lauren Swanson, and just a few weeks later they announced their engagement. But, since then we haven’t heard any news from the couple about when they plan on tying the knot.
The anti-Duggar Facebook page Life Is Not All Pickles and Hairspray revealed last month that Duggar and Swanson would be getting married on June 30th, but according to their Bed Bath & Beyond gift registry, they will say “I do” on New Year’s Eve.
Even though we don’t know for sure when the wedding will happen, recent pictures have convinced fans that Duggar’s bachelor party took place last weekend. And, in true Duggar style, strippers and alcohol were not a part of the celebration.
According to In Touch Weekly, Tumblr users posted photos of what appeared to be a traditional Duggar joint bachelor/bachelorette party, and fans think that a wedding will take place sooner rather than later for a couple of reasons. First off, the family usually has quick engagements, so Duggar and Swanson waiting until the end of the year doesn’t make much sense. And second, the sooner they get married, the sooner they can get busy.
The strict family courting rules keep engaged couples from having any alone time and prevent them from getting physical, so the sooner they can run down the aisle, the better.
Because they have so many obsessed fans, the family does tend to keep their wedding details a secret. They usually invite at least 1,000 people, and that would make it easy to crash the reception. But, moving the date back from June to December is opposite of what the family has done in the past.
For example, last year, when Joy-Anna Duggar got engaged to Austin Forsyth, they moved their wedding date from October to May.
So, if Duggar and Swanson really have moved their wedding day in the other direction without explanation, could there be some problems? There is no shortage of fan theories on social media, with the most common belief being that Duggar is having second thoughts.
That isn’t completely out of the question since Duggar is the only member of the family to have a courtship that didn’t result in marriage. Back in 2015, he courted Marjorie Jackson, but after just a few months they quietly broke things off.
Duggar also has a rebellious reputation, so it could be possible that he has decided to go against family tradition and slow things down a bit with his future wife instead of jumping into a marriage at breakneck speed.
Hopefully, Josiah Duggar and Lauren Swanson will soon give fans some kind of hint about what is really going on. Maybe, they are just waiting for the new season of Counting On to let us in on their plans.
The eighth season of Counting On begins July 30th on TLC.
