Chandler Brooks’ worst nightmare came true on the latest episode of Below Deck. Captain Lee Rosbach fired Brooks after a chaotic beach party the previous night — but was Kate Chastain the real reason why Brooks was given a plane ticket home?
Chastain certainly thinks she played a part in Brooks’ firing. The evening before Brooks’ departure, Chastain admitted that she told Captain Lee that “something needs to happen.”

Her comments came after a disastrous beach party that left the interior team with a major cleanup after dark. Things took a turn for the worse when one of the charter guests cut their foot on some broken glass.
The incident was the final straw for Captain Lee, who asked Chastain to be there as a witness when he fired Brooks.
According to Bravo, Chastain admitted the entire ordeal was “extra awkward,” and that she acted like she had no idea what was going on.
“I had to sit there and act like, ‘I don’t know what’s happening. I’m just here watching.’ And I was the one who told Captain Lee the night before to do it,” she shared.
Captain Lee, of course, had good reason to fire Brooks. For starters, he felt like Brooks demanded a lot of respect but never did anything to earn it. He also thought Brooks often used his mouth more than his brains, which got him into a lot of trouble.
At the end of the day, Captain Lee believed firing Brooks was the best move to boost the morale of the everyone else. Once they get over the shock of the dismissal, Captain Lee believes the M/Y Seanna crew will be better off.
That said, not everyone agreed with Captain Lee’s decision.

Ashton Pienarr thought Brooks should have been given a second chance and that other members of the crew deserved to be fired instead.
We’ll have to wait until next week to see how the crew handles life without Brooks, but it’s safe to say that Rhylee Gerber won’t be missing him at all.
New episodes of Below Deck air Tuesday nights on Bravo.
