George and Amal Clooney were more than just celebrity wedding guests at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s May nuptials. It turns out, the two couples are good friends, and this past weekend the Duke and Duchess of Sussex spent time with the Clooneys at their 25-room Italian villa in Laglio.
Harper’s Bazaar is reporting that the Oceans 11 star flew Harry and Meghan to Lake Como on his private jet, and the foursome spent time relaxing by the pool, going on a private cruise, and eating fantastic food.
George also showed off his motorcycle collection to Harry, and they played a game of basketball, while Amal and Meghan lounged by the pool and played with the Clooney’s 14-month-old twins, Ella and Alexander. A mutual friend introduced Meghan and Amal, and the two women have known each other for a while.

The Clooneys also had a dinner party featuring food from Il Gatto Nero, their favorite restaurant, and they also threw “several banquets” for the royal couple during their stay.
“Clooney actually [flew] them over to Como from London on his private jet and then an unmarked motorcade transported them from the airfield to the home with, of course, their protection officers in tow,” says a royal insider. “They spent the entire weekend at their home and enjoyed the privacy and security the Clooneys had for them there.”
The actor definitely knows how to have a good time — he played bartender at Harry and Meghan’s reception — and he has also hosted Hollywood royalty at his Lake Como villa, with Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler visiting earlier this month.
Harry and Meghan have been laying low the past few weeks and avoiding the spotlight. Instead, they have spent their time with friends and family. In July they celebrated the royal christening of their nephew, Prince Louis, and Meghan joined Serena Williams and her husband, Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian, as they watched Harry play polo in Ascot.
"Meghan and I are incredibly excited to meet so many of you representing the future of the Commonwealth." — The #CommonwealthYouth Forum is giving the young people of the Commonwealth a voice in its future; The Duke and Duchess of Sussex met some of its young leaders to see how @commonwealth_sec is helping them make their ideas a reality.
Then earlier this month, the newlyweds attended the wedding of one of Harry’s oldest friends, Charlie van Straubenzee, on Meghan’s 37th birthday. The Duke of Sussex also went on a solo working trip to Botswana to visit the rhino conservation charity that he became the patron of last year.
Many members of the royal family have visited Queen Elizabeth at Balmoral Castle in Scotland — her summer retreat — but we don’t know if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have stopped by yet. They did, however, recently spend time with Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, at the Castle of Mey.
