Disgraced Today Show anchor Matt Lauer is hoping for a comeback. After NBC fired him nine months ago because of sexual harassment accusations, Lauer is telling his supporters that he will back on the small screen.
Page Six is reporting that the 60-year-old was recently having dinner at Manhattan’s Donohue’s Steak House, an Upper East Side institution, and he told fans that it was just a matter of time before he returns.
“A group of older ladies came over to Lauer, saying, ‘We miss you!’” says an insider, and Lauer replied, “I’ve been busy being a dad. But don’t worry, I’ll be back on TV.”
Louis CK is back performing standup. Matt Lauer promises to be back on television "soon." Our culture cares more about a predatory man's "comeback story" than it cares about victims, justice, or ending sexual assault, harassment, and violence.

Back in June, Lauer was spotted having lunch with a former Today Show senior producer, and he has recently started to make more appearances in the Hamptons social scene. However, he has been keeping it low-key, and some residents describe Lauer as being “incognito” when he is out in public.
In the past few weeks, Lauer has shown up at the trendy Serafina restaurant in East Hampton, at the Sag Harbor charity event Paddle for Pink, and also at the Hampton Classic, an annual equestrian show.
Lauer’s estranged wife Annette Roque was also at the Hampton Classic, and the two did interact. However, they did not attend the event together, and sources say that he was there with another woman, who is just a friend.
An eyewitness says that the mystery woman Lauer was with had dark hair and was in her “late 40s to early 50s.” The two were talking and had nothing but friendly interactions, and she didn’t leave his side during the event. The woman also had a friendly chat with Roque. A rep for Lauer would not comment about the mystery woman’s identity but did say that any suggestion that he is dating someone is false.

For the horse show, Lauer sported a long-sleeve polo shirt with khaki pants and brown shoes. He also wore a New York Yankees baseball cap. Roque went with a summer look that included a floral print top and grey capri pants, plus black flip-flops and a wide-brimmed hat.
The former couple took turns walking their dog and spent the afternoon socializing with other attendees.
Earlier this month reports surfaced that Matt Lauer and Annette Roque are getting close to finalizing their divorce. Lauer has agreed to pay Roque $20 million, and they will share custody of their three children, Jack, 17, Romy, 14, and Thijs, 11.
