Fans of Meghan Markle are aware that the Duchess of Sussex once had a role as a briefcase model on Howie Mandel’s show, Deal Or No Deal, over ten years ago. During a summer press tour panel at the Television Critics Association, via People Magazine, the host said Meghan seemed “slightly duchessy.”
Most assume that Mandel was merely joking, considering, previously, he said he didn’t even remember having the Suits star on the show. However, he did state that producers, evidently, had good taste in models for Deal or No Deal.
“That speaks to who we have now and who we had then,” the comic remarked, and “these are all accomplished people that have something substantial” to offer.
According to the television host, every one of the models isn’t just standing there as eye-candy; they have careers, hobbies, families, and they’re “entrepreneurial.”
When Markle talked about the job in the past, she said it was merely a way of paying the bills. In a chat with Esquire back in 2013, the model said she worked for the US Embassy in Argentina, initially, and wound up as a model on Deal or No Deal – a striking contrast.
The royal family member said it helped her understand what she should be rather doing. She often stood for hours in “terribly uncomfortable” five-inch heels and she prayed someone chose her number just so she could sit down.
In a report from the New York Times, the publication claimed the show had 14-hour work days, and the set was freezing cold. One of the models on the show, Claudia Jordan, noted that Markle appeared ready to leave.
“I didn’t feel she loved it,” Jordan remarked. These days, Meghan’s life has become infinitely more glamorous, ever since she married Prince Harry in May of this year.
