Howard Stern has had a long and illustrious career as a talk show host, but throughout the years, he has dealt with many personal feuds and beef. However, every single one has proved to be a learning experience for The Howard Stern Show host.
During a new chat with Letterman, the host said at the time of their bitter feud, he was a “young man” full of rage and was constantly angry. And the reason for his anger was jealousy.
Stern said, “I was angry with you,” because Letterman had an audience and his own television show. When the two hosts sat down on an episode of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, Howard said there wasn’t a good reason for it at all.
He just couldn’t “respect anyone,” and he thought it was the person who he was. Before their feud, they were actually fairly good friends but Stern began bashing Letterman and his wife, Regina Lasko.
As a result, Letterman and Howard had a falling out. Even though Stern had feelings of his own, the things he said didn’t matter to him, because for him, they didn’t have meaning, as long as they weren’t directed toward him.
Stern admitted he had self-esteem issues for years, but he eventually outgrew them.
As you may know, this isn’t the only time Howard Stern has feuded with another celebrity. Kathie Lee Gifford and Howard used to hate each other a lot, and Howard would frequently bash her on his show.
One day, when the pair were both working on the set of America’s Got Talent, Gifford chose to walk right up to him and speak to him, despite their beef. Kathie Lee said he “hated her” for thirty years, and had no idea why. Following their conversation, one afternoon, Howard called her to apologize.
Nevertheless, it appears Howard has done a lot of self-reflection as the years have gone by. Ultimately, he has become a better person.
