Real Housewives of Orange County newbie Gina Kirschenheiter just made it through her first season on the popular reality show without an appearance from her husband, Matt Kirschenheiter. But, just because he wasn’t on the show, doesn’t mean he didn’t watch.
Matt revealed in a recent interview that he was tuned in to Season 13 and has a lot of opinions about what went down. Gina and Matt are currently going through a divorce, but he has remained supportive of her during her reality TV debut. And, he didn’t like it when Emily Simpson’s husband, Shane, threw her out of his house.
According to Reality Blurb, Gina says that Matt admitted at the beginning of the season that he was nervous to watch the show.
“I think he was so scared to even see what was happening there. And then, I think my sister-in-law, she’s obviously one of my No.1 supporters, and then my brother-in-law is like a secret fan. So I think they kind of were telling him like, ‘No, you have to watch it. It’s fine. It’s all good,’” she explained.
Now that he has given RHOC a shot, Matt frequently texts his thoughts to his ex about each episode. Gina says that Matt always checks in with her when she is sad on the show because he wants to be there for that.
He tells her that he feels bad that she had to go through things with everyone watching. Or, he will send texts of support, but it is still weird for him. And, ultimately, it is weird for both of them.

Matt was quite upset about the awkward moment during game night earlier in the season when Shane got frustrated about the noise in his house and kicked Gina out. She says that Matt wanted to “punch Shane in the face,” and he has problems with seeing Shane be disrespectful.
Eventually, things worked out, and everyone moved on. But that doesn’t mean that Matt will ever be ok with people being disrespectful to Gina.
Matt and Gina are still working out their divorce details, but they have established a “new normal” in their home. With three young children in the house, they are continuing to live together in their Coto de Caza home, and Gina recently admitted that they hadn’t told the kids yet about the split.
Not everyone is OK with how the couple has raised their kids, and some fans have criticized them online. Matt finds those comments upsetting, and he hates to see people being mean about the kids.
Gina Kirschenheiter tells him to stop looking for it, even though she knows he still does.
Part one of the Real Housewives of Orange County Season 13 reunion airs Sunday night on Bravo.
