The recent allegations of a teen sex abuse scandal targeting Kevin Spacey have prompted Netflix to pull their award-winning series House of Cards. Over the weekend, Spacey drew ire when a Buzzfeed report interviewed singer and actor Anthony Rapp who alleged Kevin Spacey made sexual advantages towards him when he was only 14-years-old.
Spacey is now under fire for the way he handled the allegations and quickly shifted the focus of his apology to a statement announcing he is living as a gay man. Spacey didn’t deny the allegations but stated he was drunk at the time of the alleged incident and doesn’t remember the event.
According to Rapp, he attended a party at Spacey’s residence in 1986 when a drunken Spacey threw him on the bed and tried to seduce him. Rapp and Spacey had appeared in two Broadway productions together Long Day’s Journey Into Night and Precious Sons.
Kevin Spacey released his apology via Twitter. You may read it below followed by Netflix’s official statement announcing they are not currently working with Kevin Spacey.

“Media Rights Capital and Netflix are deeply troubled by last night’s news concerning Kevin Spacey. In response to last night’s revelations, executives from both of our companies arrived in Baltimore this afternoon to meet with our cast and crew to ensure that they continue to feel safe and supported. As previously scheduled, Kevin Spacey is not working on set at this time.”
Netflix has also confirmed that House of Cards season 6 will be the last. The season returns in mid-2018. While some hoped the streaming media network would simply write off Kevin Spacey’s character and continue with the show, that wasn’t to be.
Now speculation has arisen as to how many people will tune in to watch the last season of House of Cards.

Kevin Spacey is also drawing severe criticism for using the attention from an alleged, teen sex abuse incident as a platform for coming out as a gay man.
No one wants to see a correlation between sexual abuse of minors linked to an announcement of being homosexual and many are questioning why Kevin Spacey would think that was an opportune time to come out.
What do you think of the recent sexual abuse allegations against Kevin Spacey and the cancellation of House of Cards?
