Critics say Donald Trump’s former White House official Hope Hicks will feel right home as she becomes a key executive at Fox News.
The stunning and controversial former teenage model was one of Trump’s most loyal and longest-serving aides.
She worked side by side with Trump in several capacities, as his White House communications director and he created the role of White House Director of Strategic Communications for her.
Before working at the White House, Hicks was a longtime employee of The Trump Organization.
During her brief time in Washington, Hicks helped Trump set up interviews, and she picked the reporters who would be allowed to speak to him.
Hicks also helped Trump write some of his tweets and promoted his views.
Hicks was caught in a bizarre scandal involving her lover and former White House Staff Secretary Rob Porter who was accused of allegedly beating his two ex-wives.
Hicks will oversee New FOX, which is a parent company of FOX News which has become Trump’s media machine.
Viet Dinh, Fox’s chief legal and policy officer, praised Hicks and Danny O’Brien, a former senior aide to Joe Biden who will lead the company’s government relations team.
Dinh stated: “Hope and Danny are proven leaders and world-class public affairs professionals. Together they will define and project Fox’s voice to our relevant communities.”
Democrats bashed the move.
Media Matters President Angelo Carusone replied: “Hope Hicks taking a c-suite position at Fox is another reminder that Fox is not a news network, but rather a partisan propaganda operation dedicated to serving Trump’s interests — and that operation is gearing up for 2020.”
Trump’s White House press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, a close friend of Hicks’ said: “FOX won’t find anyone smarter or more talented than Hope Hicks. So happy for my friend. They are beyond lucky to have you and the East Coast misses you already.”
Hicks will be moving to Hollywood for her role at New FOX which will start in early 2019. At some point, a return of Hicks to the White House was discussed in the media because the president really likes her.
It seems that she is ready to move on.
