On Monday, New Year’s Day, Hoda Kotba and Al Roker will host the Tournament of Roses Parade live on NBC. The Rose Parade is a longstanding New Year’s tradition and this parade marks the 129th. The 2018 Rose Parade will feature an interactive app where people can follow the excitement online as well as keep track of events if attending in person. The Rose Parade app will provide details on the lineup with performers and acts as well as the full parade schedule. The Rose Parade app is available for free in both the iTunes and Google Play app stores.
The City of Pasadena hosts the parade that takes place before the annual Rose Bowl game. This year, the 2018 Tournament of Roses Parade will feature 90 floral floats along with marching bands and horses. Gary Sinise serves as the parade’s Grand Marshal. The parade route is 5 1/2 miles long and it takes two and a half hours for the parade participants to make their journey.
The Rose Parade is a communal event with many stores, organizations, and even military units joining forces to prepare for the big event. Though the parade marches down Pasadena’s Colorado Boulevard, it is a tradition that is welcomed and recognized nationwide.
About 51.9 million people tune in to watch the Rose Parade each year.
