Harvey Weinstein is about to pay for his crimes. This morning, around 7:30 am, the disgraced movie producer turned himself into the authorities at the precinct of the New York Police Department. The police took his picture, fingerprinted, and charged him with rape, a criminal sex act, and sexual misconduct for two separate women on two different dates.
A spokesperson speaking on behalf of the department praised those women who had the courage to come forward and speak out against Harvey and other perpetrators of alleged abuse.
Reportedly, Harvey has to pay a $1 million bail and wear an ankle monitor. Upon his arrival at the scene, Harvey was smiling and wearing a blue sweater and black blazer.
He carried three books with him, including Elia Kazan: A Biography, and Something Wonderful: Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Broadway Revolution. The sex abuse charges against Harvey come from Lucia Evans, while the allegations of rape come from a woman who chooses to remain anonymous.
Supposedly, the NYPD told the sex abuse victim that if she didn’t press charges, Harvey would get away with his crimes. Harvey allegedly assaulted Evans in 2004, where he forced her to perform oral sex on him.
She supposedly told him, “I don’t want to do this. Stop, don’t.” Weinstein proceeded to “overpower” her. Weinstein had to turn over his passport and acknowledged that he cannot travel outside of Connecticut and New York.
As it was previously reported, Harvey has been accused by nearly one hundred women of sexual harassment, assault, and even rape. Asia Argento, Ashley Judd, and Rose McGowan have been perhaps the most vocal among them.
Weinstein’s lawyer, Ben Brafman, said he and Harvey are confident that he will walk free. However, they hope the court and jury aren’t swept away by the “movement” that has taken over this case.
Other women to accuse Harvey of crimes includes Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie, Lupita Nyong’O, Gwyneth Paltrow, Uma Thurman, Mira Sorvino, and several others. It isn’t looking good for Harvey.
