Harrison Ford made it very clear that we should be worried about the future of our planet as far as the environment is concerned. That being said, he stated that the issue is at the very top!
While in attendance at the Global Climate Action Summit in San Francisco, California, the actor climbed on stage to deliver a very passionate speech during which he also slammed everyone who continues to empower ‘people who don’t believe in science, or worse than that, pretend they don’t believe in science for their own self-interest.’
While it’s very clear who the not so subtle attack was directed towards, Ford never named Donald Trump, only saying that: ‘They know who they are. We know who they are.’
Indeed we do! Back in 2012, the current President of the United States claimed that climate change is just a Chinese hoax created ‘in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive.’
The Star Wars actor seems to have slammed all those who support a leader who’d rather spit out crazy conspiracy theories rather than rely on scientific facts.
Ford went on to focus on natural resources’ exploitation, which can affect life on Earth just as much, if not more than the climate crisis.
‘If we don’t change the path that we’re on today, the future of humanity is at stake. While you work to recognize the challenge of climate change, I beg you, do not forget nature. Because the destruction of nature today accounts for more global emissions than all of the cars in the world. We can put solar panels on each and every house. We can even turn every car into an electric vehicle. As long as Sumatra burns we’ll have failed.’
